HOW TO WEAR IT: Have a fabulous pair of shoes you want everyone to see but not so keen on showing off your legs? Try a pair of cropped louis vuitton bags pants. You’ll want to keep them streamlined like Katharine’s (Kylie’s are too baggy to be slimming). And if you’re hesitant about the trend, try rolling up a pair of slim pants, like Kate did, to let your stilettos do the talking.

Color Yourself in Coral Mon.

July 28th, 2010

WHO’S WEARING IT: Olivia Munn, Alison Sweeney, Vanessa Hudgens

HOW TO WEAR IT: Coral is one of our favorite colors for summer. It looks so gorgeous with a sun-kissed tan! For day, pair the color with crisp white and neutral accessories. For night, glam it up with metallics or black. And when you’re on a beach vacay, go all out bright by adding teal to the mix.

WHO’S WEARING IT: Haylie Duff, Carey Mulligan and Rachel Bilson

HOW TO WEAR IT: The double-strap cincher has all the benefits of your ordinary belt—it’ll define your waist and break up your outfit. But it will also elongate your middle section and add a little something unexpected to your outfit. Wear the accessory over practically anything, from a long cardi to your favorite summer shirtdress. But before you head out the door, just make sure there’s a little space between the top and bottom belt. When the two parts slide together, you can’t appreciate the full effect (ahem, Carey).

EXCITING NEWS ABOUT THE TEES WE PRINT ON!

July 26th, 2010

Since Threadless has started, we’ve always been less than 100% satisfied with the tees we’ve printed on. Some people really like how American Apparel is cut, some like Fruit of the Loom better. Some people like Fruit’s weight better, some people like AA better. We’ve spent the last 18 months checking out some of the best tees on the planet and still remained dissatisfied with our options. The decision was made to start looking into creating our own private-label tees!

Over the past 6 months, we’ve been working with a Los Angeles-based manufacturer to create a Threadless-specific tee shirt. These shirts are based on our experience as a tee shirt company, and the feedback we’ve gotten from our community since the beginning of Threadless. Imagine a tee that is less boxy than a Fruit of the Loom, but not as skinny as an American Apparel. Imagine a tee whose fabric is softer than American Apparel but not as thin. Are you starting to get the picture? Isn’t this exciting?! On our end, the advantages of this are endless. We can guarantee that all of the colors we get aren’t re-dyed, allowing us to add printing processes like discharge to our abilities full-time. We can guarantee that we have a color palette of 20-colors available to us at all times. The possibilities for customization are endless. Plus, we can adjust specifications based upon feedback from the community. Our private-label manufacturing will be producing all garments for us including Guys, Girls, Kids, Longsleeves, and Hoodies! After 6 successful years working with suppliers and middlemen, it’s time to cut the cord and go direct to the source!

One important logistical issue that we’d like to point out is that there will be a period of time where we’ll have a mixture of the older-style tees and the new-style tees available at the same time. We will make it 100% clear which tee you’re buying on the product page until the transition is complete. We hope everyone loves these new tees as much as we do. We’re so confident that you will! To get things rolling with this, we’ll be releasing one special tee tomorrow using our new tees! Keep your eye out for that!!

From there we’re going to be rolling out Girly tees in the new style in right around the new year, while the Guys stock is being produced. Kids and Guys should launch around the same time. We’ll keep you guys posted with all the details!

Men’s suits for the summer heat

July 22nd, 2010

The smart money is on the latest breathable fabrics if you have to wear a suit in the most humid of weathers, says Charlie Porter.

Sometimes, all that’s needed is a bit of perspective. The smartly dressed men of Britain have had a little respite from the heat this week, but the uncomfortable days of suit-wearing in summer heat can continue into September. For some global businessmen, though, the temperature in Britain in the past few weeks is nothing. From them, lessons can be learnt on how the British should cope with our much more moderate summer.

“Here in Hong Kong it is 35C and 98 per cent humidity for months on end,” says Rob Mancini, the managing director of Alfred Dunhill in the Asia Pacific, where the brand has more than 80 stores selling suits to men who have to look smart, whatever the temperature. Even in that climate, wool is still the best option for the sharpest silhouette. “This sounds hot,” says Mancini, “but go for suits made from ‘high-twist’ wools that are open weave so the fabric breathes easier.” louis vuitton bags

The Uniqlo of satisfaction Such a weave helps air pass through the cloth and stops the suit feeling like a walking heat trap. Mancini says that construction is also important. “A suit should be unlined, or half-lined, which means the lining has not been built in, making the jacket much lighter and more breathable.” Mancini says he personally isn’t a fan of linen, “as I hate looking so crumpled,” but has a couple of cotton suits for more casual trips and meetings. He also points towards Dunhill’s suit made from Camdeboo, the first shaving of mohair, similarly breathable due to the quality of the yarn (£795, 0845 458 0779).

It is in such highly developed cloths that many brands are making big advances in summer-appropriate suiting. “These interesting new blends and thinner yarns make it possible to create suits that are fresher, lighter and so much cooler,” says Alessandro Sartori, the creative director of Z Zegna. Sartori is based in Milan, where its smartly dressed men shrug off regular summer temperatures above 30C. “In the past, it was difficult to wear a gaberdine suit in the summer, but we now have a cotton-silk blend gaberdine suit that is very slick, smart and cool (£1,450, 020 7518 2700).”

Sartori also points towards the technical advances at his brand’s parent label, Ermenegildo Zegna. “They have a fabric called Cool Effect,” says Sartori, “that has a nanotechnology application in the finishing process of the fabric that makes the cloth cooler than the air temperature. So if it’s 30C outside, the fabric of the jacket is 20C.”

Sartori says that, in Milan, there are no qualms among businessmen about wearing beiges and light colours in an office environment. And it is here that the advice gets very us-and-them, because it’s fanciful to think the British workplace will ever lose its hang-ups over tradition. Sartori recognises this and says that suits in compromise lighter colours are becoming popular. “Before, we were selling suits in dark grey and blue; now we’re selling mid-grey and mid-blue. It’s a colour palette that can be worn for two to three months, not just when summer is at its hottest.”

Back in the UK, it seems like some of these messages about summer suits are getting through – just very slowly. “There are so many disasters out there wearing their heavy winter suits in the summer,” says Andy Rogers, brand director of Reiss, a resurgent label that has gained much ground from realising that young men still want sharp tailoring as part of their wardrobe mix.

“I think the best way to cope with the summer is to start separating your suits. Then tailoring can be much more adaptable.” The Reiss customer is one who is much more likely to get away with wearing a T-shirt under a suit jacket at work, and Rogers points towards Germany football manager Joachim Loew as an example of such smart-casual dressing.

Rogers says that in the younger creative industries, half-lined jackets are becoming more accepted, and are even being bought when the weather cools down, because these men are getting used to the lighter, more versatile feel of the construction. Such simple, practical suits are found at many places on the high street, and it’s something at which Japanese label Uniqlo excels, with half-lined office-appropriate suits in both its mainline range (from £24.99. 020 7290 8090) and also +J, its range designed by Jil Sander (from £39.99).

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. As with so much of British life, it is at Marks & Spencer that the true state of the nation can be gauged. “Our customer still expects structure,” says Adam Barton, M&S’s buyer for men’s suits, which quashes the idea of an imminent, half-lined revolution in offices up and down the land. “It’s an interesting dilemma, to try and make a garment that’s as lightweight as possible within the restrictions we have. Our customers want a suit that won’t make them sweat, but, at the same time, they don’t want a suit to collapse.”

Barton’s answer to this is a lightweight suit that still has enough padding and lining to reassure his customers that they are getting perceived value-for-money. “It has a lightweight chest canvas and fusing, as well as a lightweight shoulder pad that really keeps the structure.” Barton says the suit (£149, 0845 302 1234) was introduced to 10 stores this summer and has been such a success that he intends to go big on it come next summer. He is also proud of a fabric called Miracle Linen, which he says is “to a certain extent, crease-resistant. And if you wear it for a prolonged period, it only needs a gentle iron and the creases come out.”

It seems that progress will be made in small steps, but there are other more everyday tips for suit wearers. Don’t treat the lunch hour like it’s a mini-holiday: keep out of the sun and stay in the shade. Wear shirts with a buttoned cuff, so there’s less fabric at the wrist and it’s easier to roll up the sleeves. Whenever possible, take off the jacket to try and keep cool. And, until we all hot-desk from home or trade from our bedrooms, remember that while we Brits think we’ve got summer bad, remember there are businessmen elsewhere who have got it much worse. If we follow their lead, we can deal with it much better.

Commercial Building Application

Maintaining the Beauty of Your Commercial Building

Attracts Tenants
You’ve spent millions of dollars on your commercial building with the
louis vuitton bags
plan of upgrading the image of your company or attracting tenants to

more than cover your costs and build your equity. Unfortunately, if it

’s the latter, the economic downturn is creating more and more

vacancies every day. But, not surprisingly, the best, most attractive
louis vuitton bags
buildings have higher occupancy rates than the rest of the market.

After the sign, the windows are typically the first thing a visitor

notices. Do your building’s windows improve or degrade your company’s

or tenant’s image? “First impressions are lasting impressions” and a

great looking building will impress visitors and thus attract tenants.

On the other hand, windows that appear dirty will negatively affect the

occupant’s image and will chase away prospective tenants.

Some Stains Can’t Be Removed
As a multi-billion dollar athletic apparel manufacturer discovered, no

matter how hard your maintenance team tries, it can be impossible to

remove some stains from building glass. Or so they thought.

DFI’s proprietary Restoration products changed their opinion and

Diamon-Fusion? ensured that restoration work didn’t have to be redone

again and again. Better yet, DFI’s Restoration services saved this

manufacturer and its shareholders hundreds of thousands of dollars by

not having to replace the thousands of square feet of glass on their

campus.

Makes Your Building GREENER
Had that manufacturer not discovered Diamon-Fusion? and DFI’s

Restoration services, they likely would have replaced those thousands

of square feet of glass which would have contributed to our choking

landfills. And that manufacturer is now even greener because Diamon-

Fusion? reduces required cleanings, conserving water and eliminating

the cleaning chemicals that would be washed into our streams, lakes and

oceans.

Reduces Maintenance Costs
It’s great that Diamon-Fusion? and DFI’s Restoration products and

services make buildings greener, but these days everybody’s looking

for ways to reduce costs. Diamon-Fusion? accomplishes that as well by

reducing the number of required cleaning cycles by up to 70%. If you’

re a building owner, that means one less time the window cleaners need

to be paid. If you’re a window cleaner, that means that when you do

clean, the job will go much faster and the windows will be even

cleaner. It doesn’t get much better that a quicker, cheaper, better

job.

Shower Enclosures – Where DFI Started

July 20th, 2010

“I had Diamon-Fusion? applied on my shower enclosure in October 2001

and it is still very effective and has more than exceeded my

expectations after all of these years.”

- Tom Thompson, consumer, July 2008

Makes Your Life Easier
What are the surfaces you’re cleaning most in your home? If you’re

like most people, that list starts out with the kitchen counters, the
louis vuitton bags
shower enclosures and the toilets. If a drop of water dries on each of

these three, on which is the spot most noticeable? If you have clear

shower enclosures, like millions of homeowners worldwide, you know the

answer is the shower enclosure.

The family of DFI’s Founder, Adam Zax, has been in the glass business

for over 80 years. When he met Don Hayden, the inventor of the Diamon-

Fusion? process, Adam knew that the people who would immediately

appreciate the ability to make glass harder to stain would be owners of

clear glass shower enclosures. So that is where Adam started. And he

was right. No more squeegee (unless you really can’t let it go) and no

more back breaking work to keep your clear glass shower enclosures

beautiful for years. (Read more about our company’s history here.)

Since that founding in 1996, DFI has grown substantially based on that

foundation of shower enclosure owners who loved the product and told

their friends. DFI now works with large original equipment

manufacturers of all kinds of products as well as smaller fabricators

and installers around the world to help them help their customers make

their lives easier. Through extensive Research & Development, we

continue to launch new products and improve existing ones to achieve

this goal. We hope you are or will be one of those customers. You

deserve it!

If you haven’t had a chance to read the Residential Applications page

or many of the other informative sections of our site, please do so as

it will help you understand ALL the great benefits of Diamon-Fusion? or

one of DFI’s other protective coatings for a variety of surfaces in

your home, office or vehicle – from protecting your investment to

helping save the environment – DFI helps make your life easier,

healthier and more beautiful for longer

Fashion’s Future: It’s the Economy, Stupid

July 16th, 2010

I don’t need a slew of egghead economists to tell me a recession is louis vuitton pursesnear: Marc hath spoken. For his Fall 2008 show last Friday, Marc Jacobs sent out oversized coats, prim dresses and slouchy pants, all in a subdued palette of murky colors. While Marc dubbed his collection “calm,” I take it to mean that we’ll need all those bulky layers to hide under while the economy grinds to a halt.louis vuitton purses
Or maybe not. If Oscar de la Renta and his other endorsers of elegance have their way this fall we’ll be wallowing in velvet and fur, oblivious to housing market busts and job losses. Other designers also pulled out the stops with enough fantasy — like feathers and brocade — to keep us distracted from broader money woes.
