Or maybe not. If Oscar de la Renta and his other endorsers of elegance have their way this fall we’ll be wallowing in velvet and fur, oblivious to housing market busts and job losses. Other designers also pulled out the stops with enough fantasy — like feathers and brocade — to keep us distracted from broader money woes.
